The Black Mesa (Kits’iili) Chapter of the Navajo Nation is located in northeastern Arizona, in Apache and Navajo counties. The area is semi-arid, rocky, and rough; with pinon and juniper cover; and ranging in elevation between 6300 to 7600 feet above sea level.
The Black Mesa Chapter conducts monthly meetings to keep residents informed; residents have a forum to express their opinions to their Navajo Nation Council Delegate or to decide on matters concerning their chapter.
Upcoming Chapter Meetings:
- August 02, 2009-Planning Meeting at 1:00 p.m.
-
August 14, 2009-Chapter Meeting at 5:00 p.m.
-
August 14, 2009-Holiday (Navajo Code Talkers Day)
All access roads to the community are unimproved. These dirt roads transverse hilly and rugged terrain which often become impassable during inclement weather conditions. The construction of an all-weather access road would practically revolutionize the community’s contact with the outside world.
